The theme for May is of course, Mother’s Day. So in celebration this month we will be reading books that focus on not only our mothers but women who teach us to do better. Their love is unconditional and boundaries lines are always blurred. They’ve shown us what is means to put someone else first and have sacrificed to bring the next generation a better life.

In short, they are the strong protagonists of our lives. Our roles models, who are imperfect but yet the women we aim to become and surround ourselves with. We stand on their shoulders as they forever push us forward and although we may forget, their strength is unequal. So to all the Mothers of the world, Happy Mother’s Day! You are beloved.
1 . Mother, Can You Not? by Kate Siegel
Book Excerpt: There is no one else on the planet who knows where all your emotional landmines are buried and exactly how to get away without tripping them… When you have a close relationship with your mother, you develop a kind of secret language that only you and she can understand.
2 . Listen To Your Mother by Ann Imig
Book Excerpt: “Listen to your Mother” it’s a cliche, it’s the fifth amendment. I listen for and seek out the wisdom in my mother’s words. In the glorious moments when my mom-friends and I reprieve from patrolling. When we listen to one another’s truths, and to the experiences we share as women navigating motherhood, daughterhood- and well, peoplehood in general.
